Parks

Grande Prairie has an abundance of neighbourhood parks throughout the community. Located in the heart of the city, Muskoseepi Park is the jewel of Grande Prairie. Along with both paved and natural trails through the urban forest for walking, biking and cross-country skiing, park facilities include an outdoor pool, large playground, all-season pond for fishing and skating, outdoor basketball, tennis and lawn bowling courts, mini-golf, bird watching facilities, and quiet places to just sit and enjoy the solitude. Muskoseepi Park is also the place to be for entertainment during the summer. Grande Prairie’s Canada Day celebration is held in the Park. The outdoor Amphitheatre, with its hillside seating, provides the stage for concerts, dance performances, and other shows throughout the season. Stop by the Pavilion for a bite to eat. The Park also offers fun and educational programs for school and youth groups, adults and children of all ages.

The Leisure Centre

Recreation and fitness centre with an Aquatic centre, fitness and aerobics room, and indoor soccer facility.

Bear Creek Pool

Located in Muskoseepi Park, it is Grande Prairie’s only outdoor public pool.

Arenas

Coca-Cola Centre

Opened in September 2003, the Centre has two ice surfaces. Seven-hundred and fifty Grande Prairie Minor Hockey players practice and play at the Twin Arenas. The facility is also well used by Grande Prairie’s figure skaters. The Coca-Cola Centre also hosts old-timer and commercial hockey leagues and is available for private bookings and public events. The twin-rink facility is popular for hockey tournaments, as having two ice surfaces means even larger events may be held under one roof. The north surface has seating for 1,000 with room for an additional 600 seats. The south surface has seating for 350.

Dave Barr Community Centre

Hockey and skating in the winter months, and lacrosse and ball hockey in the warmer months. The Kid’s Place- a City-run playschool, is also contained in this building.

The Crystal Centre

The Crystal Centre is the premier entertainment and sport venue of the Northwest.
