As in all economic sectors, the Grande Prairie region serves as the service hub for this industrial sector. Living in the shadow of the Fort McMurray development, oil sands in the Peace Region are equally important for the future of Alberta. Located just Northeast of Grande Prairie, the McLennan oil sands deposit is slated for further development in the next few years. This reserve is estimated at over 706 million cubic feet.

The Peace Region’s gas industry is also driven by an established gas reserve of 16.88 trillion cubic feet, and a yet-to-be established reserve of over 25 trillion cubic feet.
