Agriculture

Agriculture is an integral part of the economic strength of the Peace Region.  The region has approximately 9.8 million acres of farmland, comprising about 20% of the provincial total. The agricultural sector has enjoyed a steady expansion in the last 5 years.  Although the number of agricultural establishments might be modest in size compared to other economic sectors, the sector demonstrates a healthy growth. From 190 in 2000, the number rose to 240 in 2005 (data includes forestry, fishing and hunting).
